The Cumberland County Citizens’ Academy is an annual program aiming to inform, educate, engage and empower Cumberland County citizens. During the academy, participants will gain a better understanding of the functions of their county government and the roles of each department. The Citizens’ Academy is part of the County’s strategic goal to educate, inform and engage employees, citizens, elected and appointed officials through effective and efficient communications.
Academy participants will engage in a behind-the-scenes education focused on government operations, County organization, and operations. Participants will meet County elected officials and department heads and enjoy touring County facilities.
The Cumberland County Citizens’ Academy is a free, six-week program open to Cumberland citizens, business owners and staff. Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will begin April 23. The last class will be held May 28 and graduation will take place during the first Cumberland County Commissioners meeting in the month of June.
Locations vary as classes visit department locations throughout Cumberland County.
Cumberland County residents, employees, or business owners, High School age or older, are invited to apply to participate in the 2024 Cumberland County Citizens’ Academy.
