FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Public Library has extended the deadline to submit artwork depicting the Librari-Con mascot “Libby,” until July 15. The original deadline was June 30.
Librari-Con is a one-day mini convention scheduled at Headquarters Library Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features Artists’ Alley, Cosplay Runway, workshops and discussion panels with special guests. The 2023 Librari-Con marks the first in-person convention since 2019. Librari-Con was held in person annually for 13 years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cumberland County Library is bringing back the Libby Art Competition. The Librari-Con committee is seeking submissions of artwork depicting the convention’s mascot, Libby, who is a bookish geeky or nerdy character who tends to wear any costume, including most forms of cosplay. Submissions should include a regular Libby illustration as well as a Chibi Libby, a miniature or cutesy version of the regular mascot.
The submission deadline is July 15, 2023. For full eligibility and submission guidelines, please visit any Cumberland County Public Library location or send an email to jferron@cumberlandcountync.gov.
The winner will be selected by the Librari-Con 2023 committee and will be announced at a later date. The winning artist will have the right to use Librari-Con 2023 in conjunction with their artwork. The artist will be able to sell prints or other branded materials online and/or in the Artists’ Alley during the convention if they have applied for a table.
