FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County government offices and the court system will be closed in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Holiday hours for County offices are listed below.
County Offices
All Cumberland County government offices, including the Departments of Public Health and Social Services, will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will reopen for regular hours Monday, Dec. 29.
County government offices will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for the New Year’s holiday, and will reopen for regular hours Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
Animal Services
Cumberland County Animal Services will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 28 for the Christmas holiday, and will reopen for regular hours Monday, Dec. 29.
Animal Services will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for the New Year’s holiday, and will reopen for regular hours Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Public Library
All Cumberland County Public Library locations will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 and will remain closed through Dec. 28. Library locations will reopen for regular hours Monday, Dec. 29.
Public Library locations will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for the New Year’s Holiday, and will reopen for regular hours Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Solid Waste
All Cumberland County Solid Waste landfills and container sites will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 25 and will reopen on for regular hours Friday, Dec. 26.
Landfills and container sites will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, for the New Year’s Holiday, and will reopen Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
