FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County rescinded the State of Emergency effective at 12 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, Jan. 27, as emergency protective measures related to the recent winter weather event are complete.
While the State of Emergency is ending, dangerously cold temperatures are expected to continue through the week. County officials urge residents to remain cautious and take steps to stay warm and safe.
White Flag shelters and warming centers remain open for those seeking shelter from the cold.
Weather Conditions
Although road conditions have improved, extreme cold remains a concern, particularly for older adults, individuals without reliable heat, and those experiencing housing insecurity.
Residents are encouraged to:

Travel safely and limit unnecessary trips

Check on neighbors, older adults and vulnerable individuals

Bring pets indoors during freezing temperatures
