Solid Waste Management operates 17 container sites for Cumberland County homeowners only. Homeowners may bring, at no charge per week, 4 cubic yards (one pick-up level load) of kitchen & bathroom debris or yard waste (grass, leaves, pine straw, brush and limbs less than 3" in diameter and/or 3' long) (no trailers). No commercial or permitted haulers allowed. Scavenging, loitering or concealed firearms are prohibited.
Acceptable items at container sites include: Household garbage, yard debris, flattened cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, metal, textiles, electronics, TVs, magazines, newspapers and office paper, white goods, cooking oil, tires without rims (tires are limited to 5 per household per year) and vehicle batteries.
Unacceptable items include: Burnt debris or hot ashes (take to Ann St Landfill), commercial / industrial waste (take to Ann St Landfill), construction demolition waste (take to Ann St Landfill), dead animals (take to Ann St Landfill), fluorescent bulbs (take to HHW Site), furniture (take to Ann St Landfill), mattresses (take to Ann St Landfill), gas cylinders (empty cylinders take to Ann St Landfill), hazardous waste (take to HHW Site), or pallets (take to Wilkes Road Facility).
