Register of Deeds Launches e-Filing System for Assumed Business Name Forms

The Register of Deeds announces residents and businesses will be able to file Assumed Business Name forms electronically beginning Sept. 8.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Register of Deeds announces residents and businesses will be able to file Assumed Business Name forms electronically beginning Sept. 8, 2025. This new electronic filing process will save time and trips to the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse.

This innovative e-filing system marks a major milestone and innovative step forward, modernizing how business owners register with the county. E-filing will result in a faster, more efficient, accessible and streamlined process.

The link for e-filing assumed names has been added to the Register of Deeds website with its own icon and filing instructions. The Register of Deeds website is ccrod.org.

“We’re thrilled to bring this service to the citizens of Cumberland County,” said Andra Brewington, Cumberland County Register of Deeds. “This is about using technology to better serve the public and simplify the process of doing business in our community.”

There is a convenience fee for e-filing. However, the option saves time and offers convenience and makes it easier to do business in Cumberland County.
