Cumberland County Public Utilities Reports Temporary Low Water Pressure in Southpoint Water District

Mar 04, 2026

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Bladen County Regional Water System is working to repair a well serving the Southpoint Water District. As a result, residents may temporarily notice lower than normal water pressure. There is currently no boil water advisory in effect.

The Tobemory well was taken offline Tuesday afternoon after experiencing operational issues. Water service continues through an alternate source while crews work to restore the well.

Because water is currently being supplied from a secondary source, customers may notice reduced pressure. Public Utilities staff are working to complete repairs and expect restoration to take several days.

The Southpoint Water District provides drinking water to the Southpoint community through a system supplied by the Bladen County Regional Water System. Cumberland County operates the local distribution system and is coordinating with Bladen County while repairs are completed.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official Cumberland County communication channels for updates.

For questions regarding water service, customers may contact Cumberland County Public Utilities at 910-678-7682.
