County Opens Facilities as Warming Centers the Week of Nov. 10, 2025

In anticipation of below-freezing temperatures, Cumberland County, in partnership with the City of Fayetteville, will open designated facilities as warming centers for those who need a safe place to stay warm.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – In anticipation of below-freezing temperatures, Cumberland County, in partnership with the City of Fayetteville, will open designated facilities as warming centers for those who need a safe place to stay warm.

County and City facilities will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, and Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation facilities will operate on an abbreviated schedule of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in observance of Veterans Day. See FCPR facilities here. County and City facilities will reopen Wednesday, Nov. 12, during regular business hours.

The following locations will operate as warming centers during regular business hours:

  • Cumberland County Department of Social Services – Auxiliary Lobby

    • Address: 1225 Ramsey St., Fayetteville

    • Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    • Masks or face coverings are encouraged for those with preexisting conditions.

  • Cumberland County Department of Public Health – First Floor Lobby

    • Address: 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville

    • Hours: Tuesday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    • Masks or face coverings are encouraged and may be required in certain areas.

  • Cumberland County Public Libraries

    • All eight library branches will open as warming centers.

    • Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.

  • Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) Lobby

  • Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Centers

  • The Salvation Army of the Sandhills

    • Address: 220 E. Russell St., Fayetteville

    • Hours: Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m. 

    • When opened as a Warming Center, The Salvation Army will also provide a 12 p.m. lunch, and 5 p.m. dinner.

Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors, older adults, and those without reliable heat. Pets should also be brought indoors during freezing temperatures.
