The Librari-Con mini anime convention returns to Headquarters Library at 300 Maiden Lane on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Librari-Con mini anime convention returns to Headquarters Library at 300 Maiden Lane on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. Cumberland County Public Library is partnering with Cool Spring Downtown District’s “Nerd Market” – a 4th Friday favorite featuring vendors with comic and anime wares.
Librari-Con and Nerd Market are fantastic opportunities for fans, newcomers and families to come together, share their passion and explore the diverse and creative world of anime, manga and fandom culture. Both events have free admission and feature activities for all ages, to include:
- Cosplay – Show off your craftsmanship and creativity. Compete in the Nerd Market’s cosplay contest or show off your hard work on the Cosplay Runway at Headquarters Library.
- Artist Alley – Shop themed goods at the Nerd Market on Person Street, a part of Cool Spring Downtown District’s 4th Friday. The Nerd Market will include a Librari-Con Artist Alley section. Visit the tables for stickers to redeem for prizes at Headquarters Library.
- Interactive Workshops – Participate in interactive workshops at Headquarters Library, including drawing tutorials and cardboard cosplay.
- Gaming – Test your gaming skills at Headquarters Library with video games, trivia, Pokémon card game battles, BINGO and more.
- Chibi Corner – Children and their families are invited to Headquarters Library’s second floor children’s space to enjoy self-directed nerdy crafts and activities.
Librari-Con is not only a celebration of anime and fandom but also an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate shared interest and foster creativity and imagination in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Nerd Market will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Person Street in Downtown Fayetteville and is hosted by the Cool Spring Downtown District as part of 4th Friday.
Librari-Con is made possible through the generous support of The Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library, Inc. The first Librari-Con was held in 2007 and has become a major annual event.
