North Regional Library Renaissance Faire Celebrates Friends’ 50th Anniversary

Oct 9, 2026, 08:58 AM by Sade' Wilson

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Sword fighters, aerial acrobats, Shakespearean performers and dancers will transform North Regional Library, 855 McArthur Road, into a Renaissance Faire on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m.

This free, family-friendly event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library, Inc., and the organization’s five decades of support for library programs, services and resources. The celebration is made possible through the support of the Friends.

Guests will be treated to aerial acrobatics, pop-up performances, sword-fighting demonstrations, Renaissance dancing, tarot card readings, community weaving, Dungeons & Dragons, professional photography, crafts and more. A calmer play and reset area will also be available for young children and anyone who needs a break from the festivities.

“For 50 years, the Friends have helped us create experiences that bring people together and make the library feel full of possibility,” Library Director Heather Hall said. “This faire celebrates their incredible legacy with an afternoon where our community can explore, create, try something unexpected and make memories together.”

Visitors will also have opportunities to learn more about the Friends, become members, make voluntary donations and support the organization through a scaled-down version of the Friends quarterly book sale. No donation or purchase is required to attend or participate.

Renaissance-inspired costumes are encouraged but not required. Themed food and beverages will be available while supplies last.
