The Department of Public Health reports 182 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death since the last report on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Cumberland County's case count is now 6,691 with 98 deaths.
Cumberland County currently has 111 cases per 100,000 residents with 6.2% of those tested returning positive for COVID-19. The daily average of positive cases in Cumberland County is 54.9.
According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) COVID-19 dashboard, of the deaths in Cumberland County:
- 81% were age 65 and older
- 70% were male
- 56% were African American
- 75% were hospitalized
- 87% had at least one comorbidity
- 50% lived in a congregate living setting
Put 3Ws into Action—Always
Cumberland County continues to see increased daily positive COVID-19 cases. Leaders across the County are asking people to remain compliant with the 3Ws. These actions are critical to slowing the spread of COVID-19.
- Wear a cloth face covering.
- Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
Back-to-School Vaccinations Due
The deadline for getting back to school vaccinations is fast approaching. NCDHSS extended the original deadline due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students enrolled in kindergarten and students who are attending a North Carolina public school for the first time must also submit an NC Health Assessment Transmittal Form. Parents and caregivers have until Oct. 3., to present the required immunization record and health assessment form for their child. Beginning Nov. 2, students will not be allowed to attend school in-person until the required immunizations and health assessment form has been presented.
