County Provides Winter Weather Update; Encourages Residents to Shelter in Place

Feb 01, 2026

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County officials continue monitoring winter weather impacts.

As of 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, approximately 3.9 inches of snow have accumulated. The precipitation has made road conditions dangerous and, in some areas, impassable.

The National Weather Service continues to forecast bitterly cold temperatures through Monday, with overnight lows expected to fall into the single digits. These conditions increase the risk of black ice, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.

Residents are strongly encouraged to remain at home and avoid unnecessary travel.
