FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Department of Public Health will be offering Back-to-School Immunizations Evening Clinics in the Health Department and several schools throughout the county. These free clinics will be available for students entering kindergarten, grade seven and grade 12.

Evening Clinic Details:

Students entering kindergarten, grade seven and grade 12:

• Sept. 9, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m., Department of Public Health, 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville

Students entering grade seven and grade 12:

• Sept. 16, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m., Douglas Byrd Middle School, 1616 Ireland Drive, Fayetteville
• Sept. 18, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m., Hope Mills Middle School, 4975 Cameron Road, Hope Milles
• Sept. 22, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m., Spring Lake Middle School, 612 Spring Ave., Spring Lake
• Sept. 23, 2025, from 4 – 7 p.m., Gray’s Creek High School, 5301 Celebration Drive, Hope Mills

The first 50 families at each on campus school event will receive a free bag of produce and snacks.

"We encourage parents to come early in the summer to avoid the back-to-school rush. When children receive all of their immunizations on time, our whole community benefits,” said Dr. Jennifer Green, Health Director. “High childhood vaccination rates help to create community immunity, which offers widespread protection against contagious diseases, including measles."

Walk-ins will be accepted each day until the clinic reaches capacity. No walk-ins will be accepted after 6:30 p.m. Vaccines will be billed for adults and children with insurance. However, through the “Vaccines for Children” program, vaccines will be free for children under 18 years who do not have insurance, or whose insurance does not cover immunizations. Customers must bring a photo I.D., immunization records (if available), and insurance cards.

Registration forms are available online at cumberlandcountync.gov/immunizations and may be completed in advance.  

All students entering grade seven are required to obtain a Tdap and meningococcal conjugate vaccine before starting school. As of Aug. 1, 2020, a booster dose to protect against meningococcal disease is required for adolescents entering grade 12, or by age 17—whichever comes first.

In accordance with state law, parents and caregivers have 30 calendar days from the first day of attendance to present the required immunization record and health assessment transmittal form for the child. After 30 calendar days, students will not be allowed to attend school until the required immunizations and health assessment transmittal form has been presented.

Those unable to attend one of these events may obtain their required immunizations at the Health Department, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information about immunizations, visit cumberlandcountync.gov/publichealth or call 910-433-3707.
